I suppose this is fine for someone who has next to no concept of the industry. I guess my education in sequential art rendered most of the info "no-brainer" type stuff. I was really hoping for a closer look at the actual mechanics, work flow, process, language, logistics, etc of actually creating the storyboards themselves. The other info is good. But like I said, just a little too obvious.

Its a good and quick read on how to be a storyboard artist- different chapters on different types of storyboard jobs- what are the materials you should use and even how to charge for a job!! This is a must have for anybody that's thinking about using their drawing skills to enter into this field that according to the author, is an untapped career choice. I just didn't care much for the horizontal printing format it makes it difficult to carry around and when your finished, put on your shelf and have on the ready for a quick reference.Any ways, you visual story tellers should invest in your future by picking this one up.

This book is somehow geared toward the complete beginner who has basically never heard about storyboarding. The information is quite sparse but it's on spot.I'm giving it only 3 stars because it has many editorial errors; words are, literally, missing and some diagrams and pictures dont offer sufficient explanation imho.I found it somehow strange because i have close to 15 books wich are published by MWP and are all very well edited but this one, i have a feeling, it was throughly rushed. It's still good as an easy introduction to the craft.

Focuses on how to draw more than how to tell a story which is what I was most interested in. So if drawing is you thing, then it's pretty good. Story telling, ... okay.

i loved this book very much and would recommend to all if you are in direction or storyboarding or even in cinematography.

much worst that this one >> Storyboard Design Course: Principles, Practice, and Techniques , I dont like the shape of the book, not too much picture examples, black white..

The Storyboard Artist is an excellent introduction to what is involved with being a storyboard artist. Storyboards are used to get an idea of what a film will look like, scene by scene and shot by shot, before any filming is ever done. It helps directors work out the visuals before filming to know what works and what doesn't and what will be needed to make a visual work well. The book covers some basics such as drawing techniques of storyboard artists, the difference between storyboarding and writing for comics or graphic novels, and the business side of being a storyboard artist. It's a great resource for those interested in the pre-visualization stage of making a film.Review copy provided by Michael Wiese Productions

I approached this book from the perspective of a professional artist who was recently approached and asked to join a feature length film production team as a storyboard artist. Now I knew from my past experience, that working in the film industry can mean swimming some pretty murky waters. I wanted to know, ahead of time; before entering into negotiations, contracts, and the like, just what it was I was getting my self into.Enter "The Storyboard Artist" By Giuseppe Cristiano. I found it at a bookseller and after flipping through a few pages I knew that I had exactly what I wanted.I purchased the book and was finished with it by the end of my international flight. Upon completion I realized that my first impression of the book had been completely exceeded.- A MUST for all involved in film/TV production- Easy to read- Great overview- Excellent illustrations- Easy to navigate for referenceThe overview of the industry was complete and written in a compelling yet easy to read style. The layout was eye-catching and Illustrations alone gave me much to feast on. The organization of the book leads me to suspect I will return to it often as a reference while working in the storyboarding industry.I have spent much time researching my career switch and I am convinced, nothing out there can prepare you for the storyboarding industry like "The Storyboard Artist."I recommend this to anyone with an interest in pre-visualization. Film producers, directors, art director and, of course ARTISTS.This book should be required reading for students in Film and TV schools. I think too many fail to grasp the value of good pre-visualization. I know from my past works that most if not all of our problems could have been solved with better planning. Maybe Giuseppe's book could change that.
